The Internal Combustion Engine Lab is equipped with state of the art instruments for performance and emission analysis.
PM mass concentration is measured with an AVL-415S smoke meter, NOx volume concentration with an AVL-AMA i60. The DPF backpressure is measured with an ABB 364DS differential pressure sensor.
Recently the bench has been integrated with a separate rig for fuel analysis, primarily for applications related to biofuelling (pure or blends). The Elementar “vario MACRO Cube” is used for CHNS analysis, and the Leco “TGA701” for characterizing sampled PM in terms of volatiles and ash content, by heating and weighing the sample under a controlled atmosphere.
